Niki Taylor, Supermodel
Getting
Back to supermodel shape with delivery meals - and her hubby
She's been modeling since age 14, but the 6-foot Sports Illustrated swimsuit
beauty, 32, tells Us,
"This is the first time I've ever been on a diet!" After
the mom of twins (sons Jake and Hunter, 13) suffered near-fatal
injuries in a 2001 car crash, staying slim had slipped in priority.
But she lost 11 pounds for her new gig as cohost of Bravo's Make
Me a Supermodel (premiering January 10). Since November, she
and her Nascar-racer hubby of one year, Burney Lamar, 27, have
been subscribing to North Carolina's Racing Edge Fitness meal delivery
(racingedgefitness.com). On the 1,700-calorie, six-meal-a-day
program, the couple make their own breakfasts and postdinner snacks,
but rely on deliveries for the rest of their meals - typically
egg and low-fat cheese whole-grain tortilla burritos midmorning,
and chicken and mashed potatoes, turkey chili and chicken fajitas
throughout the day. "I wouldn't really call it a diet-diet
because I'm eating every two hours," says Taylor, who also
hits the gym three mornings a week for 30 minutes of cardio (bike,
elliptical and treadmill) followed by three sets of leg presses,
leg extensions and leg curls (20 reps each). "I'm almost in
size-29 jeans, she boasts. "I haven't been this size for at
least a decade!"

Harper's Bazaar
Delivery
Diets
March 2008
RACING EDGE FITNESS Founded by athletes to provide nutritional
guidance to NASCAR teams, this North Carolina company has expanded
its client base to include model Niki Taylor. Racing Edge embraces
the concept of five or six small meals a day, of which one or two
are protein shakes or bars. Lots of your own fresh fruits and veggies
are encouraged.
BAZAAR SAYS "The oatmal-crusted chicken tenders were wonderful,"
said one staffer, who also raved about the sweet potatoes and green
beans. The whold-wheat banana pancakes (with enough sugar-free
syrup!) were yummy. Portions were meaty;' presentation was TV-dinner-style.
SIGN ME UP racingedgefitness.com Packages, from about $100 a week
plus shipping, vary depending on goals, whether it's for weight loss
or muscle gain. Shipped meals are available on a state-by-state basis.
Pickup service in Charlotte, North Carolina and Nashville.

Fitness Magazine
Back
and Better than Before - Niki Taylor
May 2008
From supermodel to FITNESS's Mind, Body & Spirit Superstar, Niki
Taylor, 32, has seamlessly stepped into a new chapter of her life.
Find out how the TV-show host and health advocate is writing her
own rules.
Under the warm lights of a loft in New York city, Niki Taylor
is smiling - that electric, girl-next-door grin that makes you
want to just stop and shoot the breeze. No matter that her face
has graced more than 400 magazine covers worldwide. Niki will always
be the friend you want to hang with - the woman practically radiates
confidence, despite the challenges life has handed her (the death
of her younger sister in 1995, a near-fatal car accident seven
years ago, raising twin boys as a single mom). Taylor's resiliency
is perhaps her most striking feature. Now that she's in her 30s,
her body is more curvy than stick-thin, a fact she is fine with
and, in an industry that rewards super-skinny over super healthy,
another example of how Taylor is doing things her way.
